Posted: Wed Mar 08, 2006 4:28 pm Post subject: [Tool] SysInternals Addon Pack Builder 3.6 - 06.01.2009 |
|
|
This program will download the latest versions of the SysInternals utilities from their site and automatically create an AddOn CAB file that can be used with the RyanVM Integrator or Nlite to integrate these tools into your Windows source.
How to run: just double-click, press ENTER, choose which programs include in final AddonPack and wait, files are downloaded, processed, unzipped, cabbed...etc. and finally the finished SysInternals_AddOn_.CAB is moved out of the temporary folder (which is SYSINTERNALS_BUILDER) to the user's working directory and then the temp folder will be deleted or you can keep downloaded files.

- Added to download list: AutoLogon, Hex2dec, LoadOrder, NewSID, RegJump
- Added to pack: makecab.exe and cabarc.exe
3.3
- Changes in custom mode
3.2
- Added optional right click entries on "My Computer" to access AutoRuns, DebugView, PageDefrag and Process Explorer (I use them often); and HDD - "Defrag with Contig"
3.1a
- Fix small bug with comma (it was only in custom mode)
3.1
- Added Contig, PsTools and ZoomIt
3.0
- Added Process Monitor
2.9
- New download links
- Updated FGCBA
2.8
- Option to choose final addon name
- Updated FGCBA to 0.611
2.7
- Compatible with FGCBA 0.54
- Updated process of creating custom addon pack (added gsar)
- Programs included in the log are listed in alphabetically order - done by n7epsilon (like he promised)
2.6
- New option: Create your AddonPack without connecting to Internet. Just move all downloaded files to "Sysinternals_Builder\Downloaded" and run program.
- New option: Delete all downloaded files
- Small fixes
2.5
- Changed temp folder to "SysInternals_Builder"
- The builder downloads the SysInternals files to "SysInternals_Builder\Downloaded" folder and when the builder is finished, "SysInternals_Builder" contents are deleted except for the "Downloaded" subfolder...
- If the builder is run again in the same folder as the previously left "SysInternals_Builder", wget will only download files that are NEWER than the ones previously downloaded and if the user manually downloads and puts his files in "SysInternals_Builder\Downloaded", wget will not overwrite them.
2.4
Redisigned START.CMD (done by n7Epsilon with some corrects from me )
- Wget will now re-use an existing connection to SysInternals.com instead of creating a new connection for every file (ie: Faster download and less load on SysInternals.com servers)
- Wget will now try up to 3 times before giving up and if wget causes an error START.CMD will alert the user.
- Cosmetic enhancements
- START.CMD is now modular code
2.3
- Added ShareEnum
- Updated FGCBA.exe, 7z.exe and wget.exe
2.2
- Updated FGCBA to 0.36
- Return to one .inf file with uninstall option
2.1
- Now it's uninstallable
- Small .log file is created with AddonPack
- Other cosmetic changes
2.0
Major changes:
- Rebuilded all pack
- Added option to choose which program include in final AddonPack
- Changed installation dir to "%programfiles%\Sysinternals"
- Updated FGCBA to 0.35
- Final AddonPack created in working dir
1.3
- Updated FGCBA to v.0.332a
- Added CacheSet to entries
1.2
- Now it runs like a switchless installer (made by n7Epsilon)
1.1
- Added to Entries_SysInternals.ini and Sysinter.inf: AccessEnum, Diskmon, Tcpview, Dbgview and Bluescreen Screensaver
Tested in VMWare, integrated with Nlite or RVMIntegrator (pack created with default and custom settings).
Big thanks to n7Epsilon (modifications, ideas and of course FGCBA!) and Mrs. Peel (I'm using her layout for addons) !
Enjoy (or not)

Yes, you must also edit SysInter.inf and Entries_SysInternals.ini.
I've made new pack with entries to programs you have mentioned.
Enjoy! |

Wow! You included my program in the pack !
(You could have asked and I could I have helped you better you know since I have the source code...)
Edit:
Ok, I have no problem with using my program...
You should tell people however that for this to work, they need to have .NET Framework 2.0 Installed on the PC.
Edit:
I can help you with this if you want. _________________ FGCBA | Reg2Inf | cWnd | PEChecksum | Firefox |

| Check MD5 and free space on your disk. Maybe file is corrupt or maybe you close liledl.exe before it download all files. I don't really know, because I it works for me all the time. |

It works just fine for me too, that is it works in making the sysinternals.cab file but i have yet to test it in a real unattended CD/DVD.
Can you please tell me where this addon creates the shortcuts in the Start menu. Ideally I think the shortcuts should all be in a folder called 'Sysinternals' placed in 'Start/Programs/Accessories/Sysinternals'.
By the way, has anyone yet used this addon in a real installation and if so with what results?
Thanks. |

Hi odyn1982,
Really thanks for creating this addon pack!
I downloaded the SysInternals_Creator_1.2.exe and checked its MD5. It's correct. 5F1570CA8469055EC9237F073A8300DF. When its wants to create the addon, it generates an error. Here is the exact copy of my last window:

I also manually used the FGCBA.exe tool and received the same error message. Please let me know that what windows file are you using to create the final CAB file? Are you using makecab.exe or another one?
Thanks,
Armond. |

What exact command line are you using to launch FGCBA.EXE...
FGCBA has three external programs it relies on to function correctly...
1. .NET Framework 2.0 Final
2. Microsoft MAKECAB.EXE
3. Microsoft CABARC.EXE
-- Looks like my program is erroring out because it probably can't find CABARC.EXE
--- Thank you for pointing out this potential issue with my program.
- I will update it very soon to make this error message more clear instead of the obscure ("The system cannot find the specified file" when it tries to launch the CABARC.EXE process and fails")...
Download the Microsoft CAB SDK (which contains CABARC.EXE) and place it inside your Windows \ SYSTEM32 folder and run the program again and it will work correctly next time.
-- I will update FGCBA.EXE shortly.... _________________ FGCBA | Reg2Inf | cWnd | PEChecksum | Firefox |

May I suggest a couple of improvements, if they are not too much trouble that is? Firstly it would be great if instead of the finished 'AddOn.CAB' file being moved to the user's desktop, it would be nice if it could be moved to the original folder from which the 'SysInternals Addon Pack Builder' is run. Secondly, and this might be a tougher one but great to have. if the user could have the option to select the individual Sysinternal programs to include in the AddOn.CAB
Thanks once again for this great tool. |

Maybe someone needs other programs from Syinternals, please let me know. |

wish i had seen this before i went looking for later versions of the file
turns out that the WinXP sp2 support tools from microsoft contains a newer version (smaller by almost half).
file version for the one i got from tools is 5.1.2600.0 (xpclient.010817-1148)
dont know if its any better or worse, but it matches the build numbers for the makecab.exe and cabinet.dll that come with XP
hope this helps..

Thanks a ton, these updates are just what was needed.
If it is not too much to ask, I have one more suggestion to improve this. Can you make it so that the 'finished AddOn.CAB' which is currently named 'SysInternals_AddOn.CAB' has the version number of the particular 'SysInternals Addon Pack Builder' that is used to make the AddOn.CAB for eg. if 'SysInternals Addon Pack Builder 2.0' is used then the final output would be 'SysInternals_AddOn_v2.0.CAB'
EDIT: Just got done using 'SysInternals Addon Pack Builder 2.0' to make the addon.cab and I'll be damned the finished file name is 'SysInternals_AddOn_2.0.CAB'. You are either reading my mind or are simply one step ahead. |

Not to be totally outdone, I have two more ideas for improvement.
Firstly, It would be nice to have a text file outputed along with the final aadon.cab which lists the name of programs included in the final addon.cab If the version nubers of each individual program was also listed it would be icing on the cake. Although I do realize that the latter part is probably not possible, but then again I would'nt want to underestimate you.
Second and probably the more difficult of the two, how about making the programs all uninstallable.
Last but not the least, I must thank you once again for this awesome utility. |

I've got both makecab.exe and cabarc.exe in System32 folder. I even tried both makecab.exe v1.00.601 and makecab.exe v5.1.2600.2100
Hope I didn't do anything stupid to mess things up |

This is yet another stupid bug on my part (because I spent 8 hours writing the improvements and apparently wasn't correctly quoting paths with long filenames sent to MAKECAB.EXE)...
I will fix this as soon as possible...
-- To help me fix this properly do the following:
1. Start > Run > cmd.exe (ENTER)
2. A console window will appear.
3. At this prompt type SET TEMP and press ENTER and post the results of this command here.
4. Are there any special characters in your Windows Username ???
---
Thank you for co-operation. This will help FGCBA perform better.

Thanks a lot. I have never seen such positive and speedy response to requests before. Makes me wonder what else could I have asked for and gotten. |

After few hours finding why I get error
| Quote: | | "Setup was unable to open information file sysinter.inf. Contact you system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2088999312" | when I go to "Add/Remove Windows Components" (the same with NirSoft.inf from Kels_Nirsoft_AiO_addon_v1.7) . I found it. Just remove line
| Quote: | [SysUninstall]
Cleanup =1
... | from .inf file and your .inf file won't delete if you're going to uninstall your pack (It's necessarry if in sysoc.inf file is an entry with your .inf file).
So if you are making uninstallable pack, take a look on my sysinter.inf file |

I like to call that evolution...
Thanks to odyn1982 and his suggestions, FGCBA is evolving into a good entries.ini / ExtInf.inf parser.... _________________ FGCBA | Reg2Inf | cWnd | PEChecksum | Firefox |

Actually odyn1982 is handling ends on the batch (and INF) side of things (SysInter.INF / START.CMD)
and I am handling ends on the C# side of things (FGCBA.EXE) to create the addon.
