Hi u_h,

your dotNET 1.1SP1 log shows KB2416447 (ms10-70) as included in the installer.

Was this not replaced by KB2572067 (ms11-078) which in turn was replaced by KB2656353 (MS11-100)?

Also, is KB886903 still valid or was that replaced too?

you are correct
when I have time I'll rebuild and installer and test.
I can't remember if it was the log that i didn't update to remove the older KB's.
no harm in the current installer as the files were all replaced by the newer KB
which is of course in the installer. Only the reg entries are left from older ones.


Edit: the installer is correct, the 1st post description was wrong !

I think KB928366 was also superseded. This is the trail that I found:

KB928366 (MS07-040) was superseded by KB953297 (MS09-061) which was supeseded by KB979906 (MS10-041)
which was superseded by KB2416447 (MS10-070) which was superseded by KB2572067 (MS11-078) which in
turn was superseded by KB2656353 (MS11-100)

I'm not sure if this makes any difference for your installer, but MS12-035 has been revised and KB2604044 is no longer mentioned as an update. See the FAQ in the bulletin for details.

Anyone know what happened to the Ms link for .NET Framework 1.1 distribution file (dotnetfx.exe)?

Why was this bulletin revised on May 10, 2012?
Microsoft revised this bulletin to communicate that for all supported systems running Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, except when installed on Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, the vulnerabilities described in this bulletin are addressed by security update KB2656353. Security update KB2656353 was previously offered in MS11-100, but also addresses the vulnerabilities described in this bulletin, CVE-2012-0160 and CVE-2012-0161.

Security update KB2656353 is available through all standard deployment channels, including Microsoft Update, Windows Update, and the Microsoft Download Center. There were no changes to the security update files. Customers who have successfully installed either KB2656353, from MS11-100, or KB2604044, previously offered through this bulletin, do not need to take any action. Customers running Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 on all supported systems except Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, who have not installed either KB2656353 or KB2604044, should apply the KB2656353 update immediately using update management software, or by checking for updates using the Microsoft Update service.

So it would appear that Microsoft issued KB2604044 and then realised that the earlier KB2656353 had inadvertently fixed the vulnerabilities addressed in MS12-035 (except on Server 2003) and so pulled KB2604044.
